DBS, Singapore's largest bank, has announced metaverse game DBS BetterWorld, which will focus on educating players about sustainability and food waste issues. The game, scheduled for release in late 2023, will give users the chance to earn rewards that can be exchanged for cash through the bank's app, PayLah. The bank has been developing this idea for about a year and bought a plot of land in the Sandbox in 2022. 2️⃣ Binance discontinues debit card services in Latin America and the Middle East. Crypto exchange Binance will suspend its crypto debit card service in Latin America and the Middle East from August 25. Cryptocurrency debit cards work similarly to other debit cards that allow users to make everyday payments. The only difference is that these tokens are funded with assets that are cryptocurrencies. 3️⃣ FTX proposed selling crypto assets through Galaxy Digital to get money to pay off debts. According to the latest court filing, FTX wants to start selling, staking and hedging its crypto holdings in order to have fiat currency paid to creditors. The exchange is looking to hire billionaire Mike Novogratz's Galaxy Digital as an advisor to support this OTC trading. FTX wants to repay creditors in fiat rather than cryptocurrencies like BTC or ETH. However, caution is required as FTX holds $3.5 billion worth of crypto assets.
